My sorority is a part of my identity but I think more importantly I help to form my sororities identity. My sisters and I; our actions reflect how others not only look at my sorority but Greek life as a whole. My sorority is a part of my identity because so many of the opportunities I have had and so many of the great people I have met are because of Phi Sigma Rho. When I wear my letters sometimes it is a shock to people to find out that I am in a sorority, others judge me based on stereotypes but some know that it means I chose to join a group that values leadership development, scholarship, friendship and giving back to the community and that is the role my sorority plays in my identity and the role I play in my sororities identity.
I think the question why I am Greek is different than why I became Greek. I feel like a person's actions are part of what makes them Greek. I think that I am Greek because of my values. Our values are part of what unite us as a community and are a part the reason my sisters and I get along so well. I am Greek because I give back to the community through coaching at a local Rec Center and by helping to raise money to get the kids practice pinnies. I am Greek because I know that my college education is something to value because not everyone gets a chance to have it. I am Greek because I want to develop as a leader to help me be a better teacher in the future and because I want to help others reach their potential as leaders too. I am Greek because I know that when I go to a school with my chapter that I will be welcomed in by my fellow Phi Rho sisters. I am Greek because my sisters mean the world to me, I know the bonds that I have formed with them will last me a lifetime.
LOVE YOU!!!
