CPLI
So yea I'm a huge nerd and I am gonna blog about CPLI just because it was so amazing!
First the dynamic of this year vs. last year was amazing! There was so much more cross council interaction this year and I feel like so much more was accomplished! I was soooo very nervous to meet with my council because I still wasn't sure as to how they would respond to me being President and because the meeting went so horrible last year (there was so much yelling last year I was in complete shock to hear some of the stuff said). But my meeting went so well! All of the Presidents appear to be on the same page and are really excited to make PHA a sisterhood and to work together to grow our numbers. In fact during the council meeting we thought of ways to fix a few current problems and a PHA sisterhood event was set up and it was decided there would be one movie night a month in a different house each time. It was just such an amazing weekend and helped me feel a lot less scared about what I am taking on. I can't wait to hold my round tables with the Presidents and I am glad they like my 2 times a month format. Maybe it is just the CPLI high that caused all this to happen........but I really think we are ready to change and ready to make BIG things happen and I can't wait!!!

What role does my sorority play in my identity? Why am I Greek?
My sorority is a part of my identity but I think more importantly I help to form my sororities identity. My sisters and I; our actions reflect how others not only look at my sorority but Greek life as a whole. My sorority is a part of my identity because so many of the opportunities I have had and so many of the great people I have met are because of Phi Sigma Rho. When I wear my letters sometimes it is a shock to people to find out that I am in a sorority, others judge me based on stereotypes but some know that it means I chose to join a group that values leadership development, scholarship, friendship and giving back to the community and that is the role my sorority plays in my identity and the role I play in my sororities identity.
I think the question why I am Greek is different than why I became Greek. I feel like a person's actions are part of what makes them Greek. I think that I am Greek because of my values. Our values are part of what unite us as a community and are a part the reason my sisters and I get along so well. I am Greek because I give back to the community through coaching at a local Rec Center and by helping to raise money to get the kids practice pinnies. I am Greek because I know that my college education is something to value because not everyone gets a chance to have it. I am Greek because I want to develop as a leader to help me be a better teacher in the future and because I want to help others reach their potential as leaders too. I am Greek because I know that when I go to a school with my chapter that I will be welcomed in by my fellow Phi Rho sisters. I am Greek because my sisters mean the world to me, I know the bonds that I have formed with them will last me a lifetime.

This I believe....
This I believe: That goals should be set out of reach. That way to accomplish them you have to work hard and strive to do better than you ever have. In terms of PHA I also think that we should be setting goals that appear to be out of reach. The one that comes to mind first is uniting as a council.
When a women joins a sorority she knows that she is joining her chapter, but usually it doesn't occur to her that she is joining something bigger than that too. When she joins a PHA chapter here at OSU she is also joining a sisterhood of 16 chapters. If you have ever been on a Greek retreat at the end there is this great feeling of unity between chapters and such positive energy; slowly though when everyone returns to the "real" world that feeling fades. I want to find a way to not only keep that energy but to have it spread. I think the only way to do this is to get larger groups of chapters together. On retreats or at the meetings there are only a limited number of women for each chapter; I think if we had a way to get larger groups of women together and had chapters all mixed up we can unite more as a council. Our individual letters are important but I think united as a council and having chapters be more like friends we can do great things!

Who are you and how do you want to change the world?
Who am I?
I am a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a grand daughter and a friend.
I am a student at OSU, a coach, a Greek a Phi Rho.
I am a dreamer, a goal setter, a perfectionist, a creative type.
I'm a nerd that can't spell, a leader, a role model.
I am me.
I want to change the world in a positive way.
I want to not only defy steriotypes but to shatter them so those in the future don't have to worrry about them.
I want girls growing up to know that they can conquer the world while wearing heels, love science and math and know that they can do anything if they work hard enough.
I want boys to know that it is okay to show affection, they don't have to love sports and that it is okay to follow a dream that others may find weird.
I want to change the world so that characteristics of people aren't assumed based upon their physical appearance.
I want to change the world so that everyone follows their dreams.
I want to enable people to do what they are passionate about so that they may change the world for the better.
Here is a link to my favorite song that reminds me how I want to live my life:
